So this year I grew multiple types of pepers including sweet bananna peppers, hungarian hot wax peppers, cayanne, jalapeno, orange bell peppers, and lunchbox (small) sweet peppers. I know which bed has the lunchbox peppers, and the orange bell peppers. But the rest I marked carefully with plant markers written with felt pen….and the type all bleached off in the sun.
I believe this are hungarian hot wax peppers. They have a bit of bite to them as opposed to a straight banana pepper. I’ll have some this Saturday at the Farmer’s Market. Next year I’m going to more clearly mark my varieties with a method that doesn’t beach out in the sun. 🙂
It has been a tough year for me growing peppers, as the sprinkler timer that waters them had the battery run too low to open the valve, and I didn’t catch it and they didn’t get watered for a week and I almost killed them all off. They are slowly coming back, but they are definitely not as robust, or producing as much as they would have had that not happened.
Farming is a series of lessons, I’m not checking all of my timers at least weekly for battery usage so that doesn’t happen again.
