I have had an amazing time at the Nevada Farmer’s Forum in Reno, learning about lean farming practices from Ben Hartman of Clay Bottom Farms. His farm is my inspiration for what I hope the future of G&G Veggies looks like. I also loved the talks on biodiversity and integrating native plant species to create inviting habitats for pollinators and beneficial insects. The skills I learned at this forum I plan on putting into practice on our farm.

One of the things I learned in Lean Farming and start with the customer. What does the customer value? I plan on putting another posts with a poll on what do you want to buy locally? It makes no sense for me to produce a lot of, for instance, beets because I like them if there is no local market to buy them. I’d really like any potential customer’s response to what do you want to see us provide at the market that we can get to make sure that when we show up with a few tables full of produce, it all sells.

Thanks to everyone who put on this amazing forum. I hope to return next year!
