While getting all of the gravel out of the areas the beds are going to be in, I found this. And started digging, and digging, and DIGGING!

Finally got it up and out and it was the cement foundation for a fence post. When I original bought my land in 2004, there was a wooden fence that blew down the day I closed escrow. It actually was offset from my property line about 12′, and I forgot about it as it hasn’t been there in a long time. Well, its back! I actually found one more after this I had to dig out.
This made me think of the settlers clearing land in rocky areas having to dig out rocks, it is a job, especially in our native soil that when it rains just compacts down into a cement like substance. Moving forward, it is out. 🙂
